Contract manufacturing firm Zetwerk has tied up with Bengaluru-based electronics manufacturing services company Smile Electronics to set up three manufacturing facilities for IT hardware production.
The first of these is located near Bengaluru and has a completely automated production line for assembling, testing and packing of desktops, laptops, energy meters and remote controls. The other two shall be setup in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Zetwerk will also invest Rs 1,000 crore into its ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing) capabilities. The company said it has embraced new generation technology such as screen-printing, placement, and reflow machines, thus it can make 0.75 million components within one hour.
Mukesh Gupta, Chairman of Smile Electronics, said their 750 skilled employees across diverse industries manage a comprehensive portfolio, catering to both low-mix, high-volume and high-mix, low-volume production needs. Smile is a recipient of the government's IT hardware Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes 1.0 and 2.0.
“This partnership is a testament to the favourable business environment fostered by the government's progressive policies and initiatives,” said Rahul Sharma, co-founder, Zetwerk.
This partnership is expected to help Smile Electronics in the areas of aerospace and defense, automotive, and consumer electronics, where Zetwerk has an already established market position.
