It's an exciting day for Chinese company Xiaomi in India. And 8.5 lakh Indian "Mi-fans". At 2 pm, the flash sale for the new Redmi Note 3 kicks off on Amazon and it's for certain that stocks will evaporate in the blink of an eye.
After going somewhat silent for a few months, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 3 five days ago in the country. And not a moment too soon as other players such as LeEco, Lenovo, Asus and Huawei pumped new phones into the market, all of which compete directly with the Redmi Note 3. These smartphones all hover around the Rs 12,000 price segment, in which devices good enough to worry the top end vendors are being made available. But the Redmi Note 3 can more than hold its own.
What's the Redmi Note 3 got that has 8.5 lakh people wanting to grab it? There's the price, of course. For Rs 9,999 you get a device wth 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage' for Rs 11,999 you get one with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. But of course, that's not all. The phone is first of all a very good looking one. All metallic and finessed in design, with rounded edges for a very comfortable in-hand feel. It's a 5.5-inch smartphone with a good display, a fingerprint scanner on the back, compatibility with all LTE bands in India, and a whopper of a battery with a rating of 4,050mAh. It's also a dual-SIM device with space for a memory card. It has an FM radio and a simple MIUI interface on top of Android 5.1. The 16MP and 5MP camera set is pretty good. All in all, everything that Indian users like, which is why there's the mad rush to buy it.
