Xiaomi has declared that its 15 series smartphones will be released in China on 23 October 2024. The series will include the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro, both of which are believed to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 CPU, with the Pro variant aiming to compete with the OnePlus 13 when it releases later this month.
According to leaked Smartprix images, the device's design would be updated and available in three colour variants, namely- black, grey or white. The camera module has been significantly improved, with a bigger design that can contain more sensors than the Xiaomi 14 Pro. The torch has been moved outside the module, allowing for a more advanced camera system. The camera module will include strong Leica branding amid four camera rings, with a Periscope lens positioned at the bottom left for greater zoom functionality.
The Xiaomi 15 Pro is rumoured to include a 6.78-inch quad-curved 2K AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, which is somewhat larger than the 6.73-inch display on its predecessor. This improved display is intended to deliver an immersive visual experience.
In terms of performance, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It will also feature an in-display fingerprint sensor for security, dual speakers for sound quality and an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. The smartphone will run HyperOS 2.0, which is designed to give up to five years of Android updates.
The phone’s camera system is said to contain a 50-megapixel primary camera with Light Fusion 900 series technology, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 telephoto lens with 5X magnification and macro capabilities with a focus distance of 30cm. For selfies, it could have a 32-megapixel front-facing camera with Leica branding.
The Xiaomi 15 Pro is also expected to include a large 6,000mAh battery that supports 90W wired charging, 80W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
