The strong Deficit Of Valid & Desired Competency In Both The Faculty & Students Leads To ‘Academic Terrorism’: Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University

During the BW Education presents Future of Management Education Conclave on 12th November 2019 in New Delhi, Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University expressed her views on the role of leadership in management education, its expectations, challenges, and opportunities.

She said that in a classroom setting, there should be an absolute match between the frequencies of the learner and the mentor. The learner should be ready to learn and the mentor must have the required skills.

Dr. Chitkara added, “ We have implemented courses for our faculty so that they can become a leader in the business administration. We are bringing the element of change to the classrooms for all stakeholders and providing them the benefit of education.”

She expressed, “The strong deficit of valid and desired competency in both the faculty and students leads to ‘Academic Terrorism’ which means learn what the faculty knows.”

The challenge is to figure out the result of the management programs. Whether it should be able to get jobs or create jobs for others. To this, she said, “At Chitkara University, we provide students with the seed money and it is provided till the point the student fully develops his business.”

The university also provides a Fortis Healthcare Management course where the students gain practical experience within the 2 years of the course duration.

She believes that the major responsibility of a leader is to create a learning environment suitable for the student, to the needs of the society and the industry at large
