Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) has said that CEO Tony Vinciquerra will step down from his role at the beginning of next year, with COO Ravi Ahuja set to take over the top position.
The transition will officially occur on 2 January 2025, marking the end of Vinciquerra’s seven-year tenure at the helm of the company. Vinciquerra will remain with SPE in an advisory capacity as non-executive chairman until December 2025.
Vinciquerra's time as CEO was marked by big strategic decisions, including the divestment of most of the company’s cable networks and the acquisition of anime streaming service Crunchyroll in 2021. These moves helped reshape the company's portfolio and strengthen its position in the rapidly changing entertainment landscape.
Ravi Ahuja, who joined SPE in 2021, has played a pivotal role in overseeing the studio’s production arm. Under his leadership, SPE has delivered several award-winning series, including The Crown, The Boys, Better Call Saul, Shark Tank, and The Last of Us.
