Tata Sons and TCS Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Monday unveiled plans to establish a Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the city of Paris, France.
The AI CoE will be situated in the burgeoning La Défense area of Paris, adding to TCS’ extensive global network of PacePort facilities. Scheduled for inauguration in June 2024, the Paris-based AI CoE will become the seventh of its kind within TCS’ global Pace network, following established hubs in major cities such as Amsterdam, London and New York. The centre will help TCS tap into France’s talent pool in design and engineering in AI.
TCS has been in France since 1992, with significant investments and acquisitions further solidifying its presence in the region. The company has 1,600 employees and serves 80 of France’s leading businesses.
In a statement, Dr Harrick Vin, Chief Technology Officer, TCS, said, “Our new AI centre in Paris will focus on many of these areas, including the development of talent and leveraging the world-renowned culture that France has for design – reflected in its fashion, luxury sector and museums. We will seek to deepen our partnerships with universities, startups, and research centers in the country, as we operationalize this center in the coming weeks.”
TCS has expanded its operational footprint in France, establishing three delivery centres in Lille, Poitiers, and Paris, with plans underway for a new facility in Toulouse. The company has recently modernised its corporate headquarters in La Défense.
