A research study revealed that AI is already impacting 90 per cent of internet users in India through phone computing capabilities, connectivity and cloud infrastructure.
The report stated that the existing AI user population in the nation is currently at 724 million and is expected to experience a yearly growth rate of 6 per cent. These individuals are individuals who have utilised various AI functionalities such as image filters, personalised recommendations and smart devices up until this point.
According to the research, the adoption of AI is being propelled by 'fitness' and 'social media' apps, which typically incorporate an average of 2.3 AI-led features. Following closely behind are 'entertainment' apps, which have an average of 2.0 AI features.
As per the study, 88 per cent of customers utilised AI-driven algorithms to analyse their preferences, behaviours, and interests to generate customised recommendations for personalised experiences. This particular sector experienced a 6 per cent increase YoY.
In addition, AI was utilised by 88 per cent of consumers to automate a range of tasks and optimise their daily routines, resulting in increased efficiency and productivity. This particular segment experienced a growth of 6 per cent YoY.
Smart home automation, a smaller sector experienced a 25 per cent annual growth rate, currently adopted by 21 per cent of consumers. About 15 per cent of consumers were found to have enhanced their user experience by utilising virtual assistants, the segment with the highest growth rate at 27 per cent YoY.
Further, the study highlighted that AI technologies are currently impacting a significant number of internet users in India. Notably, the younger demographic (19-24-year-olds) exhibits a higher adoption rate of 92 per cent, while surprisingly, the older age group (45+ year-olds) also demonstrates a substantial usage rate of 81 per cent.
