Accenture has acquired Cientra, a silicon design and engineering services company, in a move to enhance its semiconductor design capabilities. This acquisition follows closely on the heels of recent purchase of a Bangalore-based firm, Excelmax Technologies.
Founded in 2015, Cientra offers custom silicon solutions and consulting expertise in embedded IoT and application-specific integrated circuit design and verification. Headquartered in New Jersey, with additional offices in Frankfurt, Germany, and various locations in India, Cientra will bring approximately 530 experienced engineers and practitioners to Accenture’s Advanced Technology Centers in India. The acquisition is expected to support Accenture’s ability to help clients accelerate semiconductor innovation to meet the increasing demands of data computing.
In a statement, Karthik Narain, group chief executive—Technology at Accenture said, “Our acquisition of Cientra is our latest move to expand our silicon design and engineering capabilities and it underscores our commitment to helping our clients maximise value and reinvent themselves in this space.”
Excelmax Technologies, acquired earlier this week, added around 450 professionals to Accenture’s team. It is expected to strengthen Accenture's offerings in emulation, automotive, physical design, analog, logic design and verification.
These acquisitions follow Accenture's 2022 purchase of XtremeEDA, a silicon design services company based in Ottawa, Canada.
