Jas Kalra, a 23 year old philanthropist is one such personality who believes in simple living and selflessness. He is the youngest non-priest and the existing President of The Earth Saviours Foundation (T.E.S.F), a renowned NGO that was formed with a mission to disintegrate social evil hazards by Late Ravi Kalra.
The Earth Saviours Foundation (T.E.S.F) is an internationally acclaimed and recognized non-profit organization. Established in 2008 by Ravi Kalra, The Earth Saviours Foundation has been dedicated to serving the underprivileged, providing a safe haven for mistreated animals, and making every possible effort to protect the environment. The selfless, dedicated, committed and vigilant team and volunteers of The Earth Saviours Foundation work day and night to uphold community welfare.
Around 1000 less privileged people are living permanently in our NGO's shelter homes located at Bandhwari Village and Mandawar Village, Distt. Gurugram, Haryana.
Those that live in our shelter homes are abandoned senior citizens, homeless mentally disabled people, deprived females, burnt victims, victims of domestic violence, rape victims, physically injured, people suffering from incurable diseases such as HIV, schizophrenia etc.
These people are brought to our NGO’s shelter homes by the police, Govt. Hospitals, referred by Hon’ble courts and by social welfare departments. By the grace of God, all the facilities at our NGO are completely free of charges for the less privileged people such as accommodation, counseling, food, medical aid and everyday amenities. Over time, we aim to rehabilitate all the residents and we try to reunite those who are successfully rehabilitated back with their families with the help of the police,” says Jas Kalra.
Currently, the daily activities and functions are carried out through two shelters, one located in Bandhwari Village, Gurgaon, Haryana, and the other in Mandawar Village, Haryana. The Bandhwari Gurukul is situated on the outskirts of Gurgaon, stretching across nearly 2 acres of land, comprising an old age home, medical centre, home for deprived women, an animal shelter, and a center for the differently-abled.
The centres have a large community of senior, mentally disabled, and bedridden citizens (between the ages of 18 - 70 years). Along with the socially and financially deprived people, the Gurukul hosts around numerous cows (residing in the gaushala), cats, birds, monkeys, and dogs, all living together in a diverse, and nurturing atmosphere.
With the goal of providing a safe haven to all individuals in need, The Earth Saviours Foundation also takes responsibility for hosting the last rituals for any unidentified bodies. Jas Kalra is also the youngest non- priest in the world to have cremated more than 1000 unclaimed bodies.
The former president, Ravi Kalra was engaged in the battle of saving our Indian forests and has even filed a PIL (Public interest Litigation) for saving the forest and its habitats in the Supreme Court of India. Ravi Kalra in his long and motivational journey of building The Earth Saviours Foundation, taught many youngsters and children the value and importance of women empowerment, environmental conservation, respecting the elderly and treating the mentally and physically disabled as equal members of Indian society. Due to his efforts, The Earth Saviours Foundation has helped countless families and animals in rebuilding their lives.
