The panel discussion on "Small Town Tales: Aspirations Unlimited" at the BW Businessworld 3rd Annual Young Entrepreneur Summit & Awards was all about exceptional stories from small towns and Tier-II cities in India. These places want to shine and have their own identity, and hence gave wings to their own ideas.
The session was moderated by Pratyush Kukreja of YumiGo.
Addressing the panelists, Kukreja asked in his remarks: "What is aspiration in terms of your business and where do you wish to take it in terms of quality products and services. Is it about better services or solving a problem? Has your aspiration ever hit an obstacle, what kind of roadblocks were they?"
Panelist Sattvik Mishra, CEO, of Scoopwhoop said: "In terms of building a content business, we have come from the philosophy of being a better business and founder every new day. We might go on stepping our game much more in the social media driven culture but more through the young minds we are able to bring voices and interesting pieces of tales that have been long lost."
Vinay Singhal, Co-founder and CEO, Wittyfeed, explained his journey in these words: "Defining aspiration for me has always been different at all levels, living independently sometime, building better content later, and now it has reached a milestone to become a big global media company."
Samar Singla, CEO of Jugnoo, said: "Luckily, for us we were already pushing things through digital media, at least cribbing can go away from Indian mindset now. It seems that from the government's end we can be operation, innovative and earn from the aware audience that we now have in India. Our aim is to bring down the expense and cost of travelling for trips across the metros and Tier-II cities so that convenience of the consumer thrives."
Preeti Sinha, Senior President and Global Convenor, YES Institute, explained how she views aspiration.
"We keep strategizing and aspire to become one of the leading banks India has ever had. Our journey has been interesting since we have a special inclination to work and associate with the startups, through funding or lending. We have launched a program called 'Yes Head Startups' which partners with co-work spaces, accelerators, social entrepreneurs and many more such stakeholders in the same space."
She added, "Soon after, with 'Dice challenge', we plan to push the new generation innovators who think differently. Supporting the national cashless economy idea, Yes Bank also aspires to bring 'SimSePay'- an offline-payment mode, for its customers. Next on our list of aspirations, we have the launch of a 'FinTech' accelerator on the cards. We believe that people from different crafts should be supported that would also bring lot of equality among tier-II cities audience."
