The Indian equity markets opened positive on Thursday, July 29 after a series of corrections in the same week. At 10:01 AM, the BSE Sensex was up by 153.29 points at 52,597.00, and the key index Nifty-50 was up 48.50 points at 15,757.90.
Shares of Reliance Industries contributed the most in value as the share jumped over a per cent each in the morning trade. HCL Tech, Tata Steel, and Tech Mahindra were other top gainers in the 30-share Sensex. Overall in the pack, 20 scrips advanced, while 10 stocks saw selling pressure.
Among the sectors, the IT and Metal sector were the top performers in the morning deals as both the indices gained over a per cent each led by strong buying interest from investors. However, FMCG, Auto, and Pharma sectors were trading in the red.
In the technology pack, shares of COFORGE LTD. jumped more than six per cent to hit a fresh record high of Rs 5,063.50. L&T Infotech and Mindtree also added between 2-3 per cent each.
Companies like Tech Mahindra, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, Ajanta Pharma, TVS Motor Company, and Future Retail are scheduled to announce their quarter earnings later today.
In the overall market breadth, 1211 shares advanced and 498 shares declined in the NSE at the time of filing.
Tatva Chintan Listing
Shares of Tatva Chintan made a stellar debut on the exchanges after receiving record oversubscriptions of over 180 times. The stock got listed at Rs 2,111.80, at a premium of 95 per cent against its issue price of Rs 1,083. The company has raised a total of Rs 500 crore from the public offering.
