Meru Cabs has announced a partnership with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) to create awareness and promote a new ride sharing service, CarPool in Mumbai on Monday (07 December).
With this tie-up, IOCL along with Meru will ask people to start sharing their personal car ride with people travelling in the same direction by using ‘Carpool by Meru’.
“Carpooling is an excellent way for people to save on travelling costs, as well as reduce carbon emissions. Through this campaign we hope to encourage more and more people to adopt this convenient as well as environment friendly travel methods through our trusted services and thus promote the concept of shared economy,” said Siddhartha Pahwa, CEO Meru Cabs.
Meru was the first cab operator to launch carpool service in India in September this year and it can be availed in any Indian city by downloading the Meru Cabs App.
As a part of promotional campaign, Meru is offering a discount of 50 per cent (up to Rs 150) on app bookings only for IOCL customers making a transaction of Rs 1000 or more at 30 of the IOCL retail outlets in Mumbai during the offer period.

A recent survey says that 26 per cent of commuters in India spend over 90 minutes per day travelling to work and meetings. In addition around 67 per cent of respondents in India drive to work in their own car, indicating the huge potential for carpooling among commuters.
