Krafton India has declared the Esports College Campus Tour 2024, a series of collegiate tournaments across Tier 1, 2 and 3 cities in India. With a prize pool exceeding Rs 2 crore, the tour aims to offer students a platform to engage in competitive gaming and explore career paths in the Esports industry.
The Esports College Campus Tour 2024 began in August and has already hosted tournaments at 14 colleges, including IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology and K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering. Each participating college receives Rs 2 lakh from the prize pool to support these events. The tour will continue through March 2025, featuring games such as Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), Road To Valor: Empires, Bullet Echo India and Real Cricket.
This initiative aims to introduce collegiate players to the competitive Esports landscape, integrating tournaments into existing college festivals to promote a larger Esports culture on campus. Karan Pathak, Associate Director of Esports at KRAFTON India, noted that the program is designed to provide students with experience in a growing field, beyond just competition.
Krafton is also known for events like the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) and the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS). The 2024 BMPS edition saw record-breaking viewership, with over 4.7 lakh peak viewers. India’s Esports sector now includes over 6 lakh active players, reflecting the growing interest in competitive gaming. Krafton’s efforts aim to support collegiate Esports participants at the entry-level, providing foundational opportunities for further engagement in the industry.
