Dot9 Games, a Mumbai-based developer in partnership with Nazara Publishing, recently completed playtests for Fearless and United Guards (FAU-G): Domination, an upcoming made-in-India first-person shooter (FPS) mobile game. The sessions, held in Gurgaon and Mumbai, provided insights into players’ preferences and identified areas needing improvement before the game’s release.
During the playtests, 85 per cent of participants noted that the visuals had improved since the last session in July 2024. Indian environments and themes emerged as a strong element, with 90 per cent of players highlighting these aspects positively. Among various modes, 55 per cent of players preferred Team Deathmatch over options like Arms Race, Deathmatch and Search and Destroy.
Feedback on gameplay mechanics was mixed, with about 70 per cent of players rating the gunplay as ‘good’ to ‘excellent.’ However, device performance was flagged, as 24 per cent of players reported overheating, indicating a need for optimisation. In comparison to the July playtest, players observed a 23 per cent improvement in overall quality.
With more than one million pre-registrations on the Google Play Store, the development team aims to address the performance issues and gather further community feedback. Pre-registrations for FAU-G: Domination on Android are live, with iOS and iPadOS to follow. Early registrants will receive the Beast Collection, a limited-edition set of in-game cosmetics, which includes accessories and gun skins inspired by India’s national animal, the tiger.
