Jet Airways, India's second-largest airline by passenger volume, will start daily non-stop flights between India and Amsterdam next year and use the Dutch city as its new "European gateway."
The airline will shift its operations from Brussels to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol by March 26.
From March 27 onwards, Jet Airways will operate two daily non-stop flights to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, one each from Mumbai and New Delhi.
"This is a significant step for Jet Airways and these two daily flights from India to Amsterdam will facilitate further growth in business and tourism between India and the Netherlands," said Cramer Ball, chief executive officer of Jet Airways.
The airline will also operate a daily flight from Toronto to Amsterdam.
"Our new strategic partnership with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Delta Air Lines will provide you with codeshare access via Amsterdam to over 70 destinations across North America and Europe," the airline said in a statement.
Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways has a 24 per cent stake in the Naresh Goyal-promoted airline.
Jet Airways started using Belgium's capital Brussels as a hub in September 2007, when it started flying to Europe, making it the first Indian airline to have full-scale operations outside the country besides state-owned Air India Ltd.
The airline has two hubs in India - Mumbai and Delhi - while its equity partner Etihad Airways operates through its hub in Abu Dhabi.
Jet Airways said it will continue to operate flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Newark and Toronto to Brussels as per current schedule till 26 March.
The airline operates flights to 73 destinations, including 51 in India and 22 serving foreign locations.
