BW Hotelier Indian Hospitality Awards & Summit 2017 was held at The Leela Ambience Hotel, Gurugram. The two-day event is up for March 23rd and 24th 2017 and the conclave theme for this time is 'Ramping up for the Future.'
The first session was called 'Table for Two' where a veteran Hotelier K.B. Kachru, Chairman Emeritus & Principal Adviser, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, South Asia, in conversation with Sourish Bhattacharyya, Consulting Editor, BW Hotelier.
Kachru spoke about the time how he accidentally got into this business and the lessons he learnt. He said, he was born in a generation where parents would only approve of their children getting into Medical or Engineering but he couldn't manage to do more than a pre-medical exam and got into Pusa School of Management in Delhi.
He went on to speak of his interactions and anecdotes he had while he worked for The Ashok and ITDC. He achieved many milestones in the hospitality industry at a very young which opened to him a very sought after a private sector job opportunity for him in Singapore with the current brand he is associated with. He built the Asia-Pacific region and took a big leap of faith for the same.
Kachru's stint in the hospitality industry has given him a lot of connections with country heads and ambassador; he also opened for the audience a side of former PM Indira Gandhi; Feidel Castro, Yasser Arafat; how their warm gestures showed their interests and interests in hospitality. He developed a sense of bonhomie too with them.
