Charming Indian Actor Dhruvin Shah’s Remarkable Journey Into Western Cinema

Indian film industry, both national and regional cinemas, have been exporting acting talent to Hollywood & the West for decades now. While maestros like Om Puri, Anupam Kher and Irfan have left an indelible mark on British & American viewers through their classic acts, a new breed of young Indian actors, who are also accomplished technicians, is slowly coming up on the horizon.

The latest Indian actor to create a buzz in the West is Gujarat-born Dhruvin Shah, whose debut film was the Gujarati language “Super Star” in 2017. Dhruvin has been signed up as talent by some of the leading agencies in Hollywood like Abrams Artist Agency, 42 West, Dolphin Entertainment and Connect Entertainment Group. This paves the way for his global innings in western film industry.

Dhruvin’s Super Star went on to become the first Gujarati language film to complete 100 days in cinemas. His role in it was appreciated by the critics and viewers like. Now his next venture, a period film titled “7.77”, is going to be showcased at the upcoming Cannes film festival. In this movie, set in 1979, he plays the role of a Mexican worker at a gas-station located close to the border between New Mexico and California.

Dhruvin is trained in Sword fighting, Staff fighting, Knife fighting, Black Belt martial artist, and Nunchaku fighting. In addition, he also has an Associate Degree in Acting (NYC) and is a Certified Meisner and Method trained performer. Besides, the young actor is also accredited with a BFA in Acting from the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles.

Though Dhruvin started his career with Gujarati language cinema, he is well-versed in other languages like Hindi, English and Spanish. He can also speak in various accents. His list of accomplishments also includes the Best Debut award at Transmedia Awards for Super Star, Mid-Day Youth Icon Award, nods at the Paris Appreciation Awards, held at the Eiffel Tower, Paris, and GIFA Awards.
