From supporting startups to offering managed office solutions for established corporations, Spring House has grown into a hub of innovation, flexibility, and community. Mukul discusses how the rise of hybrid work, a tech-first approach, and sustainability initiatives are shaping the future of coworking, while also outlining exciting plans for Spring House’s expansion into new regions.
1. How did the concept of Spring House come to life, and what inspired you to create a coworking space?
The entrepreneurial wave in 2015-16 saw a surge in startups across India, each with a unique journey. As we engaged with these founders, we were inspired by their resilience and drive to build something they truly believed in. This led to the inception of Spring House—a collaborative workspace designed to nurture the growth of these visionary teams. Over the past eight years, we have evolved alongside our clients, addressing their operational needs while fostering innovation. What started as a space for startups has now grown to include managed office solutions for some of the largest companies, blending infrastructure with a strong network-driven community.
2. What sets Spring House apart from other co-working spaces in terms of design, culture, and community-building?
Spring House is built on three pillars: community, technology, and flexibility. Our approach goes beyond offering just office space—we’ve created an ecosystem where members can thrive. Through curated networking events and member-driven workshops, we foster meaningful connections that allow professionals to expand their personal and professional networks.
As a tech-first brand, we integrate advanced tools to enhance the member experience, from smart access systems to integrated apps that streamline everything from space booking to community interactions. Flexibility is key, and our spaces are designed to adapt to the needs of freelancers, startups, and enterprises alike. This blend of technology, community, and customisable options truly sets us apart in the coworking landscape.
3. How do you ensure that your coworking spaces cater to the diverse needs of freelancers, startups, and established businesses?
We pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of flexible solutions tailored to varying business needs. Freelancers benefit from our day-passes and open workspaces, giving them access to a vibrant community without being locked into long-term contracts. For startups, we provide scalable office setups—whether it’s private offices or team rooms—allowing them to grow without constraints. Our curated events further support startups by providing invaluable networking opportunities.
For established businesses, we offer bespoke managed office solutions, meeting rooms, and other operational services. Our ability to customise spaces ensures that companies of all sizes can work efficiently, whether they need flexible leases or tailored office environments.
4. How is Spring House adapting to the rise of hybrid work models?
We have always prioritised flexibility, and with the rise of hybrid work, this has become even more important. Our spaces are designed to accommodate both in-office and remote work needs. We offer day-passes, virtual offices, and managed office solutions that allow businesses to seamlessly integrate hybrid models into their operations. Additionally, our tech integration supports this shift—members can book spaces, hold meetings, and collaborate with remote teams using our digital tools. By combining flexibility with robust technology, we enable teams to remain productive regardless of their location.
5. Can you give us an overview of your client base at Spring House? What percentage of your members are startups versus established businesses?
Our client base consists of approximately 60% startups and 40% established businesses. Some of our prominent clients include Lenskart, Max Life Insurance, NDTV, Miniso, MakeMyTrip, and WH Smith. We have created a space that supports both the agile needs of startups and the structured demands of large corporations.
6. What are some unique amenities and services that Spring House offers to enhance productivity and creativity?
At Spring House, our focus on productivity and creativity is evident in the range of amenities we offer. Our workspaces feature ergonomic furniture, high-speed internet, and bright, inspiring environments. We have fully equipped meeting rooms, event spaces, and breakout areas to facilitate collaboration and brainstorming. Beyond physical spaces, we offer a range of community-driven events and workshops that foster idea-sharing and professional development. These elements, combined with coffee lounges and relaxation zones, create a well-rounded environment where productivity and creativity can flourish.
7. How do you see the demand for coworking spaces evolving, and what trends are shaping the industry?
The demand for coworking spaces is on an upward trajectory as businesses seek more flexible and community-oriented environments. Hybrid work models are driving this shift, with companies needing spaces that accommodate both remote and in-office operations. We’re also seeing a growing focus on wellness and sustainability, with workspaces designed to support mental well-being and eco-friendly practices. Additionally, technology integration is becoming critical—smart office solutions that enhance connectivity and streamline operations are key to the future of coworking. As these trends unfold, Spring House is committed to staying ahead by offering innovative, adaptable solutions.
8. What role does sustainability play at Spring House, and how are you integrating eco-friendly practices?
Sustainability is at the core of our operations at Spring House. We have integrated eco-friendly practices across all our centres, minimising the use of disposable materials and optimising electricity and water consumption. One of our recent initiatives is our e-waste management program in collaboration with CallMate India. This initiative addresses the growing issue of e-waste disposal, allowing us to collect and responsibly recycle or dispose of e-waste from our centres. Our goal is to involve all 8,000 members of the Spring House community in this effort and eventually open it to the broader public, promoting sustainability at every level of our operation.
9. What are your future expansion plans, and how do you envision scaling Spring House across different regions?
As we look to the future, our focus is on expanding our footprint by opening new centres in strategic locations. We aim to double our capacity within the next 18 months, drawing on the lessons learned over the past eight years to refine our processes and enhance the member experience. By streamlining our operations, focusing on customer satisfaction, and enhancing our technological offerings, we are well-positioned to scale Spring House into new regions while continuing to support businesses of all sizes.
