It's been a long time -- years, in fact -- since we saw interesting videos of a Samsung phone that folds up. Disappointingly, other than the wrap-around screen on the Galaxy Edge devices, we've seen no sign of any such thing though they have shown a rollable screen at CES last year.
Rumours of a foldable company from the Korean electronics giant have been warming up again because analysts from HSBC have said that a foldable phone from Samsung could be coming this year. They argue that Samsung desperately needs something unique and innovative as they begin to slide downward in sales and revenue.
But meanwhile, LG, the other Korean electronics giant, has rolled out a rollable TV OLED screen. It is like a shiny metallic sheet and it's entirely flexible so you roll it up like a newspaper. It's not yet in a form that's ready to go out commercially, but it certainly doesn't look far from it. How exactly one would use a display like the one LG has shown is also not too easy to visualise right now.
