Xiaomi has launched their new affordable smartphone Redmi Y2 in India. The new handset Redmi Y2 is the rebranded Redmi S2, which was launched by the Chinese company last month in their domestic market.
Redmi Y2 comes in two RAM+Storage configurations of 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB, which are priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 12,999, respectively. Redmi Y2 will go on sale from 12 June, 12 pm onwards through Amazon, Mi,com, and Mi Homes across India.
Launch offers include cashback of Rs 1,800 and up to 240GB free data with Airtel. Also, buyers who purchase the handset on June 12 using ICICI debit or credit card will get an instant cashback of Rs 500.
Redmi Y2 comes in three body colours- gold, rose gold, and dark grey.
Redmi Y2 Specifications
Redmi Y2 is packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, which is coupled with Adreno 506 GPU, and 3GB/4GB RAM. The storage options are 32GB and 64GB, with expandable storage up to 256GB through a MicroSD card. It runs on MIUI 9.5 based on Android 8.0 Oreo.
The handset features a 5.99-inch FHD (1440x720) with 18:9 aspect ratio and 70.8 % NTSC colour gamut. It sports a dual camera setup at the rear which has 16-megapixel+5-megapixel sensors with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, and LED flash. The 12-megapixels primary camera has 1.25µm large pixels which results in bright images even under low-lighting conditions. The 5-megapixels secondary camera senses depth for clicking pictures with Bokeh effect.
The rear camera is touted to have AI Portrait mode, HDR, and Panoramic mode. On the front is a 16-megapixel selfie snapper with AI Portrait mode, LED selfie flash, and Beautify 4.0.
The dual-SIM handset is backed by a 3,080mAh battery. For security, this phone has face recognition and houses a rear mounted fingerprint sensor. It measures 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1mm and weighs 170 grams. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm headphone-jack, Micro-USB 2.0, and Location.
