Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite Launch Confirmed: Everything You Need To Know

Xiaomi is all set to launch two new smartphones Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite on July 24 in Spain. The arrival of new smartphones has been confirmed by Xiaomi on Twitter where they posted a poster revealing two handsets.

Another teaser also suggests that Mi A1’s successor- Mi A2 will run on Android 8.0 Oreo and based on Google's Android One program which means the handset will get OS updates for next two years.

Previous year the rebranded version of Mi 5X was launched in India as Mi A1 with only difference being that former ran on MIUI and the latter on stock Android. Even Xiaomi’s Global VP Manu Kumar Jain hinted earlier this year that they are open to the idea of launching more Xiaomi phones with stock Android.

Mi A2 is also said to be the global model of Mi 6X which was launched by Xiaomi in their domestic market China. If that’s the case here then the upcoming handset will feature a 6-inches full HD+ display with 18:9 ratio, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, Android 8.1 Oreo based on Android One, and dual rear cameras.

Talking about the prices, Mi 6X price in China starts from starts from CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs 14,300) for 4GB+32GB, CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs 16, 350) for 4GB+64GB, CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs 18,400) for 6GB+64GB and CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs 20,450) for 6GB+128GB variant.

Mi A2 Lite

Last month, Xiaomi also launched Redmi 6 Pro in China which includes Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, 5.84-inches display with 19:9 ratio, dual rear cameras, AI face unlock, and 4,000mAh battery.

Talking about Mi A2 Lite, the handset has already been listed on AliExpress. The listing suggests that the upcoming Mi A2 Lite is the rebranded version of Redmi 6 Pro. The listing reveals two variants of Mi A2 Lite, prices begin from $190 (roughly Rs 13,000) for 3GB RAM model and $210 (roughly Rs 14,370) for 4GB RAM model. 

In China, Redmi 6 Pro price starts from CNY 999 (roughly Rs 10,450) for 3GB RAM+32GB storage, CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs 12,544) for 4GB RAM+32GB Storage and CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs 13,590) for 4GB RAM+64GB storage.  

Similar to Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite will also run on stock Android unlike Redmi 6 Pro which comes with MIUI.
