We Want To Bridge The Gap In Existing Teaching Methodology: Prerna Jhunjhunwala, Founder, Creative Galileo

On Creative Galileo’s journey been so far…
We started amidst the pandemic last year. We realised that most edtech players focused on test preparations, and early childhood learning was left behind during our initial research. As an educator, having established preschools in Singapore and a mother, I believe that a strong foundation is essential for a strong future during the budding years.  With that vision, we launched our new-age edtech startup, Creative Galileo, which aims to redefine early childhood learning for children aged three to eight. As India’s first character-based, e-learning app for holistic development, we use technology to deliver personalised education solutions for young minds. We are at the intersection of education, technology, and gamification. Our Kids Early Learn App has achieved over 3.5 million downloads with over 5,00,000 monthly active users within a year of launch. When we started, we wanted to create something which could help bridge the gap in the existing teaching methodology. The objective was to offer personalized inquiry-based learning methods and experiential activities resulting in a fun, interactive curriculum with technology. Personalisation and gamification are the two most significant factors that are embedded in our program. 

On how tech radically transforms the edtech sector…
With the phenomenal rise of e-learning, education has changed dramatically, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms. Whether it is language apps, virtual tutoring, gaming apps, or online learning app, there has been a significant surge in usage since Covid. Deploying digital platforms has played a vital role in this new normal, helping connect students and impart exciting and relevant content, transforming education and making it more accessible. Covid changed how we looked at physical learning, parents realised the importance of supplemental learning tools to enhance the overall academic advancement and created the preference for a more holistic measurement tied to value-based and real-time learning concepts.

On plans for recently raised funds…
We recently raised our seed round from a leading Indian VC. A large portion of the funds will be used to build a strong R&D, marketing and analytics team. We will be accelerating our efforts on product development to bring in more exciting and relatable characters and explore new partnerships and markets. 

 On technology driving Creative Galileo’s growth…
Creative Galileo’s early learning app weaves together the best of education and entertainment to create personalised, integrated learning experiences for young minds. We are using IPs with a deep resonance with our target user base, i.e. kids and toddlers, to help them correlate and learn at their own customised pace, going back and re-reading, skipping, or accelerating through concepts as they choose. We believe edtech platforms like ours can help democratise access to quality education and narrow literacy divides by paving the way for more inclusive education systems. 

 On trends shaping the Indian edtech sector…
The edtech industry is leapfrogging different trends, from edutainment platforms to co-curricular, to innovative teaching and early childhood development, edtech now covers all. The sector is moving towards a hybridised learning methodology that complements the traditional learning method, as well as help children, relate and learn with more personalised edutainment experiences. Also, concepts like smart classrooms, smart campuses, AI, gamification are already playing a significant role in transforming the sector.
