Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a roundtable today with leading American technology executives at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, marking a significant event during his three-day visit to the United States.
The meeting, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering, focused on fostering innovation and collaboration within India's burgeoning technology sector.
Prominent CEOs in attendance included Sundar Pichai of Google, Jensen Huang of Nvidia, and Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, who joined Modi to discuss cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, biotechnology, and semiconductor technologies.
In a post on social media platform X, Modi described the session as "fruitful," highlighting the optimism surrounding India's technological advancements. He emphasised the country's commitment to responsible AI development, promoting a vision of "AI for All" that underscores ethical practices in technology deployment.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) elaborated on the discussions, stating that the dialogue aimed to explore how emerging technologies could enhance global well-being, particularly in India. The CEOs engaged in a deep dive into the evolving technological landscape and its potential to drive economic growth and human development.
Modi reassured the technology leaders of India's dedication to protecting intellectual property and creating an environment conducive to technology-led innovation. He encouraged them to seize the opportunities presented by India’s growth trajectory, positioning the country to potentially become the world’s third-largest economy.
Additionally, the meeting spotlighted India's vibrant startup ecosystem, which Modi and the CEOs recognised as a vital bridge for American companies seeking to enter the Indian market. The roundtable discussions underscored the significant role startups play in accelerating technological innovation and creating new solutions.
MIT Professor Anantha Chandrakasan, who chaired the session, expressed appreciation for the contributions of both Modi and the participating CEOs. He reaffirmed MIT’s commitment to harnessing technology for global benefit and advancing collaboration between the United States and India in critical technology sectors.
