Twitter announced on Wednesday that its ‘Blue’ subscribers can now post tweets up to 4,000 characters long.
The new feature for the Twitter Blue users is different from normal users who can tweet in up to 280 characters on the micro-blogging platform.
Twitter Blue users can also add images and videos along with longer text posts. All users can read the longer-format tweets but everyone on the platform will be able to see just the first 280 characters of the tweet on their timeline. If they want to read more, they would have to click on “Show more”.
“Most standard functions of Tweeting still apply, whether you want to post a picture, use a hashtag, or create a poll. but now you can type all the way up to 4,000 characters. for now, longer Tweets on web can't be saved as drafts or scheduled to send later,” said Twitter on the new feature.
On Wednesday, the premium subscription service Twitter Blue was also rolled out for users in India, Brazil and Indonesia.
In India, Twitter Blue costs USD 10.9 on iOS and Android, while the web users are paying about USD 7.8.
Twitter Blue provides users with additional features on the microblogging platform including tweet editing, longer video posts, organised bookmarks, app icon customisation, NFT as profile picture and longer tweets.
