Users of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 are concerned that the paint on their newly purchased gadgets is coming off. The foldable smartphone, which was unveiled on 10 July at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris, is said to have this issue around the power button and rear panel, causing dissatisfaction among some early adopters. Samsung has acknowledged the problem and noted that it may be caused by the use of some third-party accessories.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC powered Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which has a 7.6-inch 120Hz QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex primary display and a 6.3-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X outer screen, also has a 4,400mAh battery and supports 25W wired and wireless charging. Despite these high-end specifications, some Reddit users have shared photographs of small chunks of paint flaking off their smartphones, particularly around the power button and the top left corner of the rear panel.
Samsung responded to these accusations on its own support page, blaming the paint peeling on the use of ‘incompatible third-party products.’ The company stated that ‘high-speed third-party chargers,’ particularly those that are not correctly grounded, may cause current leakage, which might impair the anodisation process of the phone's metal body. This procedure is intended to give a long-lasting, corrosion-resistant coating, but it can be hampered by such electrical interference.
Along with the chargers, Samsung warned that utilising electronic muscle stimulation (EMS) massagers while using the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could result in paint peeling. The business recommends keeping the phone away from the body when using these products to avoid potential injury.
Samsung has assured users that high-quality third-party chargers that meet the Qi standard should be safe to use with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, for the best safety and performance, the manufacturer suggests using an original Samsung charger made exclusively for the device. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not come with a charger. On the Samsung India website, the 25W adaptor costs Rs 1,699, while the USB Type-C to USB Type-C connection costs Rs 599.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is available in India starting at Rs 1,64,999 for the 12GB + 256GB edition, while the 12GB + 512GB and 12GB + 1TB models cost Rs 1,76,999 and Rs 2,00,999, respectively. The foldable phone is available in three colours, namely, navy, pink and silver shadow.
