In a statement released on Thursday, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the appointment of P Vasudevan as the Executive Director (ED) responsible for overseeing three departments, including currency management. The appointment, effective from 3 July, marks Vasudevan's promotion from his previous position as the Chief General Manager-in-charge of the Department of Payment and Settlement Systems.
During his extensive tenure of nearly three decades at the Reserve Bank, Vasudevan has played key roles in various areas, such as the supervision of banks and non-banking financial companies, payment and settlement systems, and serving as a Member of Faculty in Bankers' Training College. He has worked in both the central office and the regional offices in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi.
Vasudevan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role, holding a Master's degree in finance, as well as certifications in Information Systems Audit (CISA), Information Security Management (CISM), and Fintech from the National University of Singapore. He is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) and an esteemed alumnus of the Wharton School.
