Rajasthan, Lucrative Industrial Destination: Shekhawat

BW Businessworld’s Digital India Summit, was quite a success story with eminent personalities gracing and brainstorming the day long sessions. In one such session by Rajpal Shekhawat, Ministry for Industry, NRI, Government Enterprise, DMIC, Rajasthan spoke about his government’s initiatives to make Rajasthan a very lucrative industrial destination.

Shekhawat said we are all working together towards making states a major digital economy. “The economy has to be accountable to the common man,” he added. Talking about Rajasthan he stated that it has tremendous opportunity to grow. Shekhawat also included the popular yojnas of his state in the speech.

Shekhawat said that through e-governance only, we will be able to attain good governance. Emphasizing on Information Technology (IT) he said that it is better for business also. He also discussed about Digital India and smart cities extensively in his speech.

“Tomorrow India is going to be one of the largest economies,” said Shekhawat. Talking about his state, he said, that the economy of Rajasthan is going to be vibrant in future. After being questioned by Hoshie Ghaswalla, CEO of BW Engage, about the state of the rural population in Rajasthan during demonetization, he responded, “Rural India is not ignorant India, they want to participate in digitalization; the rural and urban divide is not going to impend the growth. Every panchayat has awareness and rural people are very happy with the idea of digitalization of India.”

The next question put up by Ghaswalla was, “How do you propose to ensure that the computerized meters are available in every village for their proposed electricity automation project?” Shekhawat replied to him by saying that, IT is not confined to electronic payments alone but the government is enabling a closer reach of technology for the people.

When asked about the smart cities of Rajasthan, he replied, “IT alone will not be able to make a city smart, but keeping them vibrant and intact will.” Concluding it he said that everybody together needs to work for the success of the Digital India.

At the end of the Digital India Summit 2017 there was an awards’ ceremony in which Vasundhara Raje was the recipient of the ‘Digital person of the year’ award which was given by Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister for Electronics and Information Technology.
