Oppo has launched their most innovative smartphone Oppo Find X in India. It is an all screen handset with minimal bezels which features a pop-out motorized camera mechanism.
It is not just the innovative design which makes the Oppo Find X unique, it is a complete package which includes Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 6.42-inches AMOLED display, 8GB RAM, 16-MP+20-MP dual rear cameras, 25-MP selfie camera and Android 8.1 Oreo.
The concept is quite similar to Vivo Nex which just has a pop-out selfie camera, whereas Oppo Find X takes it to a whole new level with its motorised slider which houses both the rear and front cameras along with a bunch of sensors.
With Oppo Find X, the company aims to minimize bezels and exclude the notch for larger screen area.
As Oppo Find X is a high end smartphone, so is its pricing. With a price tag of Rs 59,990 in India, Oppo Find X has entered the pool of high-end flagship smartphone with competitors like Huawei P20 Pro, Google Pixel 2 XL, and Samsung Galaxy S9+.
Let’s take a look at Oppo Find X’s price and specifications and compare them with its competitors.
Software, Processor and Storage
Oppo Find X runs on ColorOS 5.1 which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 coupled with 8GB RAM. It has on-board storage of 256GB.
Huawei P20 Pro runs on EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and powered by Huawei’s Kirin 970 octa-core processor which is coupled by 6GB RAM. As far as storage is concerned, the handset comes with 128GB internal storage which is expandable via dedicated Micro SD Slot.
Samsung Galaxy S9+ runs on Android 8.0 and powered by Samsung Exynos 9810 (1.7GHz octa-core) processor which is coupled with 6GB RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone comes in three variants – 64GB/128GB/256GB internal storage which are expandable up to 400GB via dedicated micro SD Slot.
Pixel 2 XL runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and will be getting OS, security updates from Google for next three years. The second-gen Pixel smartphone is powered by 2.35GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM. Pixel 2XL is available in two storage variants of 64GB/128GB; there is no microSD card slot so the storage is not expandable.
Camera and Display
Oppo Find X features a 6.42-inches full HD+ (2340x1080 pixels) AMOLED with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is India’s first pop-out motorised camera mechanism which includes both front and rear cameras. The smartphone sports 25 megapixel front facing camera with AI beauty technology and 3D facial scanning. It has dual rear camera set up with 20-megapixels+16-megapixels with dual LED flash.
Huawei P20 Pro has 6.1-inches display (1080x2240 pixels) AMOLED with 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The camera is something which stunned the smartphone industry. The smartphone sports Leica-branded tri-lens camera setup at the back with one RGB, monochrome, and a Telephoto lens.
The vertically placed rear cameras have 40 Megapixels + 20 megapixels B/W + 8 megapixels. It ensures stability and works on the basis of object identification, outlines of the shapes. It also has 3x optical zoom and 5x hybrid zoom. It comes with features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama. The selfie snapper comes in 24 MP with f/2.0 aperture.
Samsung Galaxy S9+ has 6.2-inches display (1440 x2960 pixels) AMOLED with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It sports horizontal dual rear camera of 12-megapixels + 12-megapixels Dual rear camera with LED flash.
The primary 12MP camera comes with two f-stop modes i.e. f/1.5 and f/2.4. This dual aperture technology enables the users to click good pictures in the low lighting conditions with large aperture (f/1.5) which captures more light and during the bright scenes the smaller aperture (f/2.4) comes into play by avoiding overexposure.
The secondary 12MP lens of S9+ focuses on Portrait mode (Live Focus).It comes with features like 4K video and 9MP image recording, touch focus, face/smile detection, Auto HDR, panorama. The front camera comes in 8 megapixels with autofocus, dual video call and Auto HDR.
Pixel 2 XL features a 6-inch QHD+ (2880x1440) pOLED display with 3D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The Pixel 2 XL’s display is nearly bezel-less with 18:9 aspect ratio.
Google’s handset sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus + dual pixel phase detection, OIS, EIS, and f/1.8 aperture. On the front is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with fixed focus and f/2.4 aperture.
Battery and Connectivity
Oppo FindX is backed with 3,730mAh battery life with VOOC flash charge. The connectivity options available in this handset are Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G VoLTE, USB Type-C, and Location. It features 3D Face unlock system for unlocking the phone.
HuaweiP20 Pro is packed with 4000mAh battery life with Huawei Super Charge fast charging. The connectivity options of Wi-Fi 802.11 a/c, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, NFC, and Location along with fingerprint sensor mounted below the screen with which the phone can be unlocked.
Samsung Galaxy S9+ is backed with 35000mAh battery life with connectivity options of Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G VoLTE, 3.5mm audio-jack, USB Type-C, and NFC. For the security purpose it has face unlock system, iris scanner along with fingerprint sensor mounted on the rear side beneath the dual rear camera.
Pixel 2 XL by a 3520mAh which also up to 7 hours of power after 15 minutes of charge. Following the trend, Google has also ditched the 3.5mm audio-jack and the audio is routed through a headphone adaptor.
The new Pixel smartphone comes with Active Edge feature which allows users to launch Google Assistant by squeezing the device which is a pretty similar feature to the HTC’s Edge Sense.
Connectivity options are- dual-band WI-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 + LE, GPS, USB Type-C, GLONASS, and NFC. Both devices are IP67 water and dust resistance. The aluminum unibody smartphone have a fingerprint sensor at their rear panels which unlocks it.
