The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will be organizing an educational conference on November 14 in Ernakulam, Kerela, informed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NSDC, Manish Kumar, in an event of BW Education-Top Education Brands of India 2017-on Friday in New Delhi.
He explained that they have invited a number of educational institutions, both national and international to the conference. International industries like Volvo, IKEA too have been invited who wish to invest in India. “The industry officials said that they have the money to invest but, they require skilled people who can handle the sophistication that they want to operate with,” said Kumar.
He said that NSDC is trying to mix these two institutions, colleges who have shut themselves due to lack of sufficient number of students joining them (but are keen to turn towards skills) and investors from abroad, who wish to invest in India. “We want to make them sit at one table and make partnership between them,” Kumar added. The Swedish team is already in town and people from the US are expected for the conference along with two ambassadors from abroad, according to NSDC.
Role of schools:
Kumar elaborating on the role of local schools and teachers said that skilling should begin in school as post-school, imparting skills to students become difficult. He informed that schools who wish to introduce skilling in their individual institutions should come forward and NSDC would help them with implementation.
