The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is currently leading in a majority of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, according to the latest trends available from the Election Commission around noon. The Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)], led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who rejoined the NDA five months ago, is ahead in 14 out of the 16 seats it contested.
The BJP, which fielded candidates in 17 seats, is leading in 11, while the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) [LJP(R)] is ahead in all five seats it contested, including Hajipur, where its chief Chirag Paswan has established a lead of about 24,000 votes.
Current Status :
JD(U): Leading in 14 out of 16 seats
BJP: Leading in 11 out of 17 seats
LJP(R): Leading in all 5 contested seats
The INDIA bloc, though trailing, is showing signs of picking up speed. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which faced significant losses in the last general elections, is leading in five of the 23 seats it contested. Notably, RJD chief Lalu Yadav's eldest daughter, Misa Bharti, is leading by over 33,000 votes in Pataliputra, while her younger sister Rohini Acharya is trailing in Saran.
The CPI(ML) Liberation, contesting only three seats, is leading in two, Arrah and Karakat. In Arrah, Union Minister and two-term BJP MP RK Singh is trailing, while in Karakat, Bhojpuri superstar Pawan Singh is a distant third.
The Congress is leading in the reserved Sasaram seat but is trailing in Kishanganj, the only seat it won five years ago. Former Bihar Chief Minister and NDA ally Jitan Ram Manjhi from Hindustani Awam Morcha has a substantial lead of nearly 64,000 votes in Gaya. The CPI is in a neck-and-neck race in Begusarai with Union Minister and BJP MP Giriraj Singh. The election trends so far indicate a strong showing for the NDA in Bihar, bolstered by the recent return of JD(U) to the alliance. Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc is gradually gaining momentum, showing promising leads in some key constituencies. As the counting continues, the final results will reveal the full extent of the political shift in Bihar.
