Moto G6, G6 Play India Launch On June 4: Everything You Need To Know

The Moto ‘G series’ of Motorola smartphones have always been a popular choice among Indian consumers when it comes to affordable phones. The sixth-gen Moto G handsets were launched by the company earlier last month in Brazil. Now, the company is bringing two handsets Moto G6 and G6 play in India, which will be launched on June 4.

Moto G6, G6 Play Price and Availability

Moto G6 Play is the cheaper one out of the two upcoming handsets, which costs $199 (roughly Rs 13,330) and Moto G6 costs $249 (roughly Rs 16,680) in the US. Motorola has revealed that both phones will be available at different e-commerce platforms in India, Moto G6 Play at Flipkart and Moto G6 at Amazon.

Moto G6 Specifications

Moto G6 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and powered by a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor, coupled with 3GB/4GB of RAM. It has 32GB/64GB of storage, which is expandable up to 256GB through a MicroSD card.

Unlike previous year’s metal body Moto G5, Motorola has gone with the glass body for Moto G6 this time. Moto G6 features a 5.7-inches FHD+ (2160x1080) IPS Max Vision display with 18:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Talking about optics, it features a dual camera setup at the rear which includes 12-megapixels+5-megapixels sensors with f/1.8 aperture and dual-LED flash. The rear camera is also capable of shooting 1080p videos at 60 fps, Timelapse video, and slow-motion videos. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with LED flash and beautification modes.

The dual-SIM handset is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower fast charging, which the company claims can provide hours of power in minutes of charging. The fingerprint sensor is still located below the display, which other than unlocking the phone could be used for navigation.  

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone-jack, and Location.  It measures 153.8 x 72.3 x 8.3mm and weighs 167 grams.

Moto G6 Play Specifications

Moto G6 Play runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 427 octa-core processor, coupled with 2GB/3GB of RAM. It has 16GB/32GB of storage, which is expandable up to 128GB through a MicroSD card.

Moto G6 Play features a 5.7-inches FHD+ (1440x720) IPS Max Vision display with 18:9 aspect ratio.

Talking about optics, it features a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with LED flash and beautification modes.

The dual-SIM handset is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with TurboPower fast charging, which the company claims can give 36 hours of backup. The fingerprint sensor is located below the rear camera with which users can unlock the phone.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, Micro USB 2.0, 3.5mm headphone-jack, and Location.  It measures 155.4 x 72.2 x 9.1mm and weighs 180 grams.
