Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Tuesday (01 December) reported 9.7 per cent rise in total sales in November at 1,20,824 units as against 1,10,147 units in the same period, last year.
However, the sales were below analyst expectations.
Nomura had expected volumes to increase by around 14 per cent year-on-year led by ramp up of new launches in domestic segment while Motilal Oswal was expecting 16.5 per cent growth at 1.28 lakh units.
Sales of mini segment cars, including Alto and WagonR, declined by 4.7 per cent to 35,981 units as compared to 37,746 units in the year-ago month, MSI said in a statement.
The company said domestic sales increased by 10.6 per cent year-on-year to 1.1 lakh units while exports grew only by 1 per cent in the month gone by. Passenger cars sales were up 8.7 per cent to 89,479 units in same period.
The sales of company's mid-sized sedans Ciaz and SX4 in November stood at 5,509 units, up 5.3 per cent as against 5,232 units in the same period last year. There was no sale of premium sedan Kizashi during the month.
In compact cars segment, (which consists of brands like Swift, Celerio, Baleno, Dzire and Ritz) the company sold 44,626 units in November, higher by 19.5 per cent compared to year-ago month.
Utility vehicles (like Ertiga, S-Cross, Gypsy) sales increased 57.5 per cent on yearly basis. In the utility vehicles segment , the company sold 8,688 units over a year ago. Exports during the month increased to 10,225 units against 10,125 units last year.
Maruti recently launched Baleno in October received overwhelming response and bookings crossed 25000 units from the day of launch.
