LG V20: Dressed To Impress

Two screens, three cameras and a whole lot more — the LG V20 is dressed to impress in the flagship category. It’s priced at Rs 54,999, which begs the question — does the V20 bring enough to the table to edge past the strong lineup of the S7s, the iPhones and the Pixels already out there?

Unless you have a problem with big phones, you’ll get right along with the V20. It gets most things right, with a durable aluminum alloy build, an uncluttered though somewhat plain Jane design and removable rear cover with a swappable battery. You get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage , not class-leading specifications but by no means a slouch either. The dual rear camera configuration is interesting, with 16-megapixel standard field-of-view lens and an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens that can capture up to 135 degrees. LG used the same approach in the G5 and I quite liked the additional perspective the wide-angle lens afforded. There’s also a partnership with B&O Play for the sound chips on the phone as well as the headset, and music sounded considerably richer on LG’s Music app. The main attraction, of course, is the second screen atop the V20’s primary 1440x2560pixel 5.7-inch display, and LG’s really thought this implementation through to save this thin sliver of a screen from becoming a gimmick. .

Rounding out the package is a heavily skinned version of Android 7.0 Nougat and excellent battery life, and in many ways, the V20 is fairly sorted in most departments, though at its price point, the competition (and the buyer) is rather unforgiving
