The Google Pixel 9 series is expected to get introduced in August, relating to which a fresh leak has disclosed certain details about the next smartphones. The information covers storage, software and charging capabilities for the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. While these reports look legitimate, confirmation will have to wait until the formal debut.
The Pixel 9 series stands out for its guarantee of up to 7 years of software upgrades, which is a major commitment from Google. This long-term software support may make the Pixel 9 series desirable to buyers searching for long-lasting smartphones.
Reportedly the Pixel 9 series is expected to ship in August, rather than the customary October timetable. The smartphones are also believed to run Android 14, rather than the anticipated Android 15. This adjustment is supposedly due to Android 15 not being ready by the end of August, similar to the delay encountered with Android 14 last year.
The Pixel 9 range will include three models, namely- Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. All three variants will begin with 128GB of storage. The Pixel 9 will have 12GB of RAM, and the Pro variants will have 16GB of RAM. The Pixel 9 will also have a 256GB storage option, while the Pro versions will come in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB varieties, giving consumers a variety of storage options.
According to GSMArena, the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro will be able to charge to 55 per cent in 30 minutes, with the Pixel 9 Pro XL reaching 70 per cent in the same time period. These charging speeds will be reached using the new Google 45W USB-C charger. Google now offers just a 30W USB-C charger. For comparison, the Pixel 8 Pro, which the Pixel 9 Pro XL will replace, could be charged to 50 per cent in 30 minutes with the 30W charger.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL will use a 5,060 mAh battery, which is somewhat larger than the 5,050 mAh battery in the Pixel 8 Pro. Google also promises 24 hours of battery life for all models, with the option to increase it to 100 hours using the Extreme Battery Saver mode.
The Pixel 9 series seems to be a good update, despite deviating from the typical Pixel launch timeframe and software expectations. However none of it is confirmed by the respective organisation yet, one must wait for the official release from the organisation.
