Job Fairs Help Indian Youth Gain Employment

The Job Fair for Skilling Indian Youth
To achieve the dream of skilling India, initiatives and events are being organized by the government agencies and private individuals. Even NGOs are dedicatedly putting efforts to facilitate the ambitious project for the unemployed youth.

So far, the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), the flagship scheme of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has completed 10 lakh enrolments under the scheme. The scheme has been implemented by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) through a network of 1012 training partners affiliated to the scheme.

One such job fair was organized by Sewa Bharti in New Delhi, for more than 500 underprivileged youth on the 24th of July. To combat poverty this Ngo has been working even after the National Youth Skills Day (15th July, 2016).

The one day fair was organized at Nutan Marathi School, Paharganj, where more than 50 corporates having shown interest appeared with various kinds of jobs and internship offers.

A combined round up Rs. 1,000 crore came in for recruitment, it included multiple verticals and companies. Seeking suitable recruits for varied vacancies, an average salary of Rs. 15000 was offered increasing their household income by 300 percent.

The youth had been trained for skill development at Sewa Bharti's computer centres, stitching centres and baal vaadhis. After gaining expertise and required skills to excel in their own field, Sewa Bharti decided to build a platform which will enable them to make their careers.

The Highlights of the Job Fair
- Rakesh Arya, famous life coach and motivational speaker was also present to guide the job seekers. Sharing insights about the expectation from an employee in a professional environment, he stressed upon inheriting honesty and integrity in one's personality.

- These qualities are integrity, honesty and skills. The interview sessions for the candidates were held from 9 am to 6 pm. The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr Ram Kumar, General Secretary of Sewa Bharti.

- Job roles in which data entry, clerical work , sales profile, house-keeping and supporting staff, receptionist, office boy, field boy computer operator, DTP, accountant, house staff, drivers, home-office maintenance staff, managers, person skilled in Hindi and English language are offered.

- Also marketing sales staff, assistant/senior manager level staff was hired yesterday from the job fair. The platform to provide a host of career-related services proved to be very helpful for dynamic job matching, career counselling, job notifications and vocational guidance to the needy.

"With the help of our NGO, a lot of unemployed youth living in slums have got job opportunities. These youth would contribute in making India, a progressive country," said Dr. Ram Kumar, General Secretary of Sewa Bharti.

The NGO has been working for the betterment of the underprivileged since 1979 and has its reach all over India with 196 centers in Delhi alone. A dedicated team of 3000-4000 volunteers work in the areas of women empowerment, skill development, education for street children and healthcare, corporate social responsibility.

Initiatives like these should be replicated on bigger and multiple platforms that can promote the Indian youth to gain experience, employment and earn a living.
