Union chemicals and fertiliser minister Ananth Kumar has announced setting up of a National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Rajasthan with an investment of Rs 500 crores in the district of Jhalawar over the next two years.
The international-level institute is likely to come up in next two years, he said.
Speaking at the Resurgent Rajasthan partnership summit, the minister also said that a sum of Rs 100 crore would be invested in upgrading the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) in Jaipur.
The institute will train 5000 students annually, and also undertake B. Tech and M. Tech courses in the field. He said that there is a huge demand of skilled manpower in the plastics sector, and the students coming out of various CIPETs in the country are getting good job placements.
Government will facilitate Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd to set up a brown-field fertilizer unit at Gadepan in Rajasthan to produce 12.7 lakh metric tonne of urea with the investment of Rs 5,500 crore, he added.
The central government is providing 12 lakh MT Urea this year to the state to meet its demands.
He announced that the government will also invest Rs 100 crore for setting up a 2.4 lakh MT Single Super Phosphate plant in Chittorgarh.
The minister announced that Rs 300 crore will be invested by FAG mill in the mining sector in the state.
Government is also planning to set up a medical devices park and plastic park in Bhiwadi, if Rajasthan government could provide 100 acres of land. There is no such medical park in India.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu also announced the developing of 24 model railway stations across the state.
