Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, proposed to install electric buses and a ropeway system to enhance its urban transportation system.
Tamme Phassang, Mayor of Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), said that final talks are underway to establish the ropeway system.
He informed that the IMC is in contact with businesses in Hyderabad and Gujarat to complete the project.
The proposed ropeway, which would run from Lobi in Division 4, the Secretariat, Ganga Market, Chimpu, and vice versa, would provide a beautiful and effective transit route linking important parts of the city.
He added that the IMC and Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS) are working together to run ten electric buses in the capital city in addition to the ropeway, with plans to expand in the future.
While it will depend on the success of the trial, the mayor said, these developments demonstrate IMC's dedication to modernising its transport network and promoting sustainable urban mobility.
