Huawei has launched two new camera-centric smartphones P20 and P20 Pro in Paris.
Huawei P20 costs EUR 649 (roughly Rs 52,300) and P20 Pro costs EUR 899 (roughly Rs 74,200). Both handsets are available in four colours each- Black, twilight, pink gold, and midnight gold. P20 also comes in champagne gold colour.
Both handsets P20 and P20 Pro runs on EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. They are powered by Huawei’s Kirin 970 octa-core processor which is a competitor of Snapdragon 835 not 845. P20 has 4GB RAM and P20 Pro has 6GB of it. Talking about the storage, both smartphones have 128GB internal storage which is expandable through a hybrid SIM/memory card slot.
P20 features a 5.8-inch FHD+ (2244x1080) RGBW FullView display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio. On the other hand, P20 Pro has a larger 6.1-inch FHD+ (2244x1080) AMOLED FullView display. For both phones, Huawei has also adopted the “notch” on its display which houses a selfie camera and an earpiece.
P20 sports a dual camera at the rear with 12-megapixel RGB sensor (f/1.8 aperture) and 24-megapixel monochrome sensor (f/1.6 aperture).
On the front, both handsets sport a 24-megapixel selfie-snapper with f/2.0 aperture. Also, there’s face unlocking feature which uses the phone’s front camera.
P20 Pro’s Camera is something through which Huawei has amazed the smartphone market. P20 Pro sports Leica-branded tri-lens camera setup at the back with one RGB, monochrome, and a Telephoto lens. DxO Mark has given P20 Pro a rating of 109 points making it the “best camera smartphone”, which means P20 Pro’s camera is better than Samsung Galaxy S9, iPhone X or Google Pixel 2.

The telephoto lens have optical image stabilisation while other lenses have Huawei’s AI-based stabilisation which works on the basis of object identification, outlines of the shapes and ensures that it stays consistent while shooting. It also have 3x optical zoom and 5x hybrid zoom.
The camera has light sensitivity of 102400- which means it performs astonishingly under low-light conditions.
P20 comes with a 3,400mAh battery and P20 Pro with a 4,000mAh battery with Huawei SuperCharge fast charging. There is also a fingerprint sensor below the screens of both handsets. P20 is IP57 rated splash resistant, P20 Pro is IP67 rated water and dust resistant.
