HP unveiled two new AI PCs, the HP OmniBook X and HP EliteBook Ultra, at Microsoft's AI Vision Event. These devices are designed for the evolving work landscape where people work from various locations and AI is increasingly integrated into daily tasks.
The HP OmniBook X AI PC is available for pre-order starting at USD 1,199.99 and the HP EliteBook Ultra AI PC starts at USD 1,699.99, both with shipping commencing on 18 June 2024.
Additionally, HP highlights a study stating that over half of early technology adopters believe AI will save them time and a further study indicates that business leaders expect AI to improve employee productivity. To address these demands, HP created a new category of PCs specifically for work and creative tasks that leverage AI.
The HP OmniBook X and HP EliteBook Ultra are built on the Snapdragon X Elite processor with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of 45 trillion operations per second. This allows them to run language models and generative AI locally on the device, enhancing creativity and productivity through features like Copilot+ Recall.
Further, these next-generation AI PCs are designed to work seamlessly with a growing range of AI-enabled applications. Communication and collaboration tools can leverage gestures, facial expressions and voice interaction, while presentation skills can be improved through AI-powered coaching and feedback. Additionally, AI-enabled software can simplify photo, audio and video editing.
"In this era of artificial intelligence, how we define an exceptional device is no longer about speeds and feeds," said Alex Cho, President, Personal Systems, HP Inc. "It is measured by our ability to create and enable meaningful breakthrough experiences." HP believes these AI PCs will empower users in both their personal and professional lives.
In addition, the HP OmniBook X and HP EliteBook Ultra are touted as the world's thinnest next-generation AI PCs, offering a sleek design and long battery life of up to 26 hours. They are also claimed to offer exceptional performance, opening large files nearly twice as fast as previous models and enabling extended video streaming. Both devices are part of HP's sustainable PC portfolio, incorporating recycled aluminium and utilising sustainable packaging materials.
For enhanced collaboration, the HP EliteBook Ultra integrates Poly Camera Pro, which utilises the NPU to power features like background blur and auto framing during video conferencing. HP AI Companion, another new feature, uses AI to optimise device performance and bring AI tools directly onto the device. Security is a key focus for the HP EliteBook Ultra, which includes Wolf Pro Security Next Gen Antivirus and Microsoft Secured-Core PC designation for comprehensive protection.
