Huawei owned Honor recently launched their affordable smartphone Honor 9N in India. The handset is available in three RAM+Storage variants of 3GB+32GB, 4GB+64GB, and 4GB+128GB with Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, Lavender Purple, and Robin Egg Blue colour variants.

It runs on EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo and powered by HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor which is coupled with Mali T83-MP2 GPU and 4GB RAM

With the mid-range Rs 11,999 for 32GB variant, Rs 13,999 for 64GB and Rs 17,999 for 128GB storage variant, it has attracted pool of competitors in this range like Redmi Note 5, Samsung Galaxy J6 and Oppo Realme 1.

Software, Processor and Storage

Honor 9N runs on EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo and powered by HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor which is coupled with Mali T83-MP2 GPU and 4GB RAM. The handset comes in two internal storage options of 64GB and 128GB, the storage in both models can be expanded up to 256GB using a MicroSD card.

Redmi Note 5 operates on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 paired with 4GB RAM. It comes with 64GB internal storage which is further expanded via dedicated micro SD slot.

Samsung Galaxy J6 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and powered by an Exynos 7870 Octa-core processor coupled with 3GB and 4GB RAM. The handset comes in two RAM+Storage variants of 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB, with expandable storage up to 256GB.

Realme 1 runs on ColorOS 5.0 which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It is powered by Helio P60 Octa-core processor with dual-core AI. The handset is available in two RAM+Storage configurations of 3GB+32GB and 6GB+128GB. The storage in both variants is expandable up to 256GB using a dedicated MicroSD card slot.

Camera and Display

Honor 9N sports a dual rear camera setup which includes 13-megapixels+2-megapixels sensors with dual tone LED flash, Bokeh mode and PDAF. For clicking selfie, there is a 16-megapixels front camera. It measures 149.2 x 71.8 x 7.7mm and weighs 152 grams.

The smartphone features 5.84-inches FHD+ (2280x1080 pixels) IPS display with 19:9 aspect ratios. Talking about the design, with 12 layers of Nano coating and 2.5D curved glass.

Redmi Note 5 sports single rear camera of 12 megapixels with ƒ/2.2 aperture. The camera features dual LED flash light along with PDAF, Low light enhancement, HDR, Panorama, Burst mode, Face recognition. In the front the handset has 5-megapixels with selfie flash, Beautify 4.0, Selfie countdown and Face recognition.

The handset features 5.99 inch FHD+ (2160X1080 pixels) with 18:9 aspect ratios.  It measures 158.6 x 75.4 x 8.1 mm and weighs 181 grams.

Galaxy J6 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, LED flash, panorama and HDR. For the selfie snapper, the handset has 8-megapixel front camera with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash.

It features a 5.99 inch FHD+ (2160X1080 pixels) with 18:9 aspect ratios. The smartphone measure 149.3 x 70.2 x 8.2 mm and weighs 154 g.

Realme 1 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and on the front is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. The cameras are touted to have AI beautification and AR stickers. It features 6-inch FHD+ (2160x1080) display with 18:9 aspect ratios. The handset measures 156.5 x 75.2 x 7.8mm and weighs 155 grams.

Honor 9N is a dual-SIM handset is backed by a 3,000mAh battery which the company claims can deliver up to 21 hours of talk time. For security, there is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlock. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, Micro-USB 2.0, 3.5mm headphone-jack and GPS.

Redmi Note 5 is a dual SIM handset with 4,000mAh battery life. The connectivity options available are Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, FM, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India).

Samsung Galaxy J6 is a dual SIM handset with 3,000mAh battery life. The connectivity options available are Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, Micro-USB 2.0, 3.5mm headphone-jack and GPS.

Realme1 is a dual SIM smartphone packed with 3,410mAh with connectivity options for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, Radio, GPS and micro USB 2.0.
