The government has allocated Rs 551.75 crore to support the IndiaAI mission in Union Budget 2024,. This comes on the heels of BJP government’s approval in March of over Rs 10,300 crore for the IndiaAI Mission.
The financial infusion, spread over the next five years, will support a variety of important initiatives designed to position India as a global leader in AI technology.
The IndiaAI mission encompasses several key components. Among them are the IndiaAI Compute Capacity, the IndiaAI Innovation Centre (IAIC), the IndiaAI Datasets Platform, and the IndiaAI Application Development Initiative. Other important aspects include the IndiaAI FutureSkills program, centred on developing AI talent, the IndiaAI Startup Financing initiative to support emerging AI companies and efforts to ensure Safe & Trusted AI.
Central to these initiatives is the IndiaAI Compute Capacity. This effort seeks to create a cutting-edge, scalable AI computing infrastructure by deploying over 10,000 Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) through strategic public-private collaborations.
