The Eastern Railway said on Tuesday, July 9, that during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024–2025, the railway earned over Rs 953 crore in income from passengers. It claims in line with its commitment to enhancing passenger amenities and facilities, Eastern Railway achieved a substantial increase in passenger patronage and revenue.
PASSENGER EARNING RECORDED 9.97% INCREASE
Eastern Railway recorded an astounding 9.97% rise in overall passenger earnings (including PRS and Non-PRS) during the first quarter of the current fiscal year. During this period, the passenger revenue is ₹953.24 crore, which is higher than the ₹866.79 crore generated in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Railway sees this growth as a testament to the trust and preference that passengers have towards trains originating from Eastern Railway. The total number of originating passengers from April to June 2024 reached 2,87,654, marking a 3.36% increase from the previous year's figure of 2,78,309.
Eastern Railway extended its heartfelt gratitude to all passengers in a press note for their continued support and patronage. It quoted that Eastern Railway is dedicated to deliver the best services to passengers.
