India
India has reported 492 coronavirus cases with Kerala being the worst hit. Maharashtra has the second highest number of cases at 87. 30 states have imposed lockdowns, there are curbs on public transport and ban on domestic flights come in to force 24 March midnight.
United Kingdom
The UK has announced strict measures to tackle the spread of coronavirus. They have constituted a ban on public gatherings of more than two people. As of 23 March, 335 people died in the United Kingdom. Addressing the nation from Downing street, PM Boris Johnson said the nation is facing "moment of national emergency" and urged people to stay at home.
China
As of 23 March, China reported 39 new imported cases and no new indigenous cases.
USA
In a briefing on Monday March 23, US president Donald Trump suggested that the economic shutdown meant to curb the spread of coronavirus would not be extended. “America will again and soon be open for business,” said the president. He further suggested that the response to the virus might be exaggerated. As per Johns Hopkins University the US has reported at least 43,000 cases thus far.
Italy
As of March 23, Italy reported 602 new deaths from the virus however, this figure shows a fall in numbers for a second day in a row. The country is in its third week of a nationwide lockdown.
North Korea
While the world is working to contain the deadly coronavirus outbreak, North Korea claims to have no cases at all. As per reports, experts in South Korea are sceptical of these claims and some sources believe that country is in fact infected.
UAE
As of 23 March, The United Arab Emirates reported 45 new cases bringing the total up to 198 for the region. The UAE urged its citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and stated strict measures would be taken against those who did not comply with the safety measures.
