A latest survey has revealed that 60 per cent consumers are today concerned about how organisations apply and use artificial intelligence (AI).
The survey also found that 65 per cent of consumers have already lost trust in organisations over their AI practices. The findings from the survey come to the fore even as global leaders continue to tout AI as the trailblazing tech that would change life on earth.
Consumers opined that the top approach for making them more comfortable would be to provide opportunities for them to opt out of AI-based solutions.
The survey found that the privacy benchmark shows providing opt-out opportunities was selected least (22 per cent) among the options organisations would put in place to reassure consumers.
The Cisco 2023 Data Privacy Benchmark Study also revealed that despite a difficult economic environment, organisations continued to invest in privacy, with spending up significantly from USD 1.2 million just three years ago to USD 2.7 million this year.
“Even though 96 per cent of organisations believe they have processes in place to meet the responsible and ethical standards that customers expect for AI-based solutions and services, 92 per cent of respondents believe their organisation needs to do more to reassure customers about their data,” mentioned the report.
In India, 98 per cent of respondents said that when it comes to the application and use of AI in their solutions, their organisation needs to be doing more to reassure customers that their data is only being used for intended and legitimate purposes and only 2 per cent disagree.
