Cisco, Nvidia Unveil Partnership To Power AI In Hybrid Workspace
Cisco on Thursday unveiled its collaboration with Nvidia, a leading chip company, to introduce AI-driven meetings designed for hybrid workers.
This announcement was made during a virtual roundtable meeting. Cisco introduced the Room Kit EQX adding Cinematic Meetings capabilities, leveraging Nvidia's AI engine and many more to improve user experience in the Hybrid workspace.
Jeetu Patel, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Security and Collaboration, stressed the need for reimagining and reconfiguring workspaces to provide seamless and immersive collaboration experiences. The partnership with Nvidia reportedly facilitates this by expanding the portfolio of AI-powered solutions for hybrid workers.
While Cisco didn't provide specific details about its partnership with Nvidia beyond device upgrades, Deepu Talla, Vice President of Embedded and Edge Computing at Nvidia, highlighted the role of Edge AI in boosting autonomy and productivity across various industries. The collaboration between Cisco and Nvidia will look to bring the technology to the workplace
Cisco said it plans to upgrade a wide range of its products with Nvidia AI modules.
It was also announced that Cisco Webex has integrated an AI Assistant known as Webex AI Assistant. Its capabilities include Change Message, Suggested Responses for messages, Meeting Summaries to help users catch up, Message Summaries and Topic Summaries.
Additionally, Cisco introduced a new Webex AI Codec designed to improve audio and video quality. Network issues can frequently disrupt calls and meetings, especially when users connect from locations with poor connectivity. To address this issue Cisco is introducing Real-Time Media Models (RMMs) in Webex, which utilise visual and audible cues such as gestures and movement during meetings to enhance audio and video quality. These models can process multiple media streams and provide outputs like people and object recognition and action analytics, including movement and gestures.
During the virtual roundtable, Cisco also highlighted its commitment to safeguarding user data, reiterating that the company will not use user data for commercial purposes or to train Large Language Models (LLMs).
