Central government is likely to invite more companies to invest in India to set up semiconductor manufacturing facilities. This will be the second round of applications under the USD 10 billion incentive package.
According to The Economic Times, four semiconductor companies are in advanced talks with the government to set up fabs in the country. This includes a New York-based and a Korean semiconductor firm.
The applications are reportedly being accepted from mid-March.
India had accepted five proposals under the abovementioned scheme with the window for the same closing in February 2022.
Last year, Vendata singed an MoU with the Gujarat government to set up semiconductor manufacturing facilities in a joint venture with Apple suppier Foxconn.
Earlier this week, a high-profile Foxconn delegate had visited Karnataka to hold talks of potential investment in the state too.
