In a financial assistance package to the Arvind Kejriwal government, the Union Urban Development Ministry has announced a Rs 3,250 crore package for decongesting Delhi. The Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party government, along with the BJP-ruled municipal corporations, took a step together on Sunday (22 November) towards making Delhi a “World Class” city.
"Delhi is facing lots of issues in traffic flow and it is important to initiate projects aimed at decongestion of roads. It will not only save time for commuters but also save them from harassment," said Naidu, while inaugurating the Swachh Delhi Abhiyan.
Under the package, Delhi Government will be provided with Rs 1,500 crore, DDA will get Rs 1,665 crore and North Municipal Corporation of Delhi supposed to get Rs 85 crore.
Naidu said, “Delhi Government will be supported for addressing different choking points through improvement of road geometry and construction of under passes and flyovers to enable traffic decongestion.”
While Delhi Development Authority will, construct Rail Under Bridge at Holambi and Mundka, costing Rs.615 crore, Rail over Bridge at Narela at a cost of Rs 400 crore, a tunnel near Bhagya Vihar and Meer Vihar at Rs.300 crore which helps in decongesting Outer Ring Road and completion of the 3.50 km stretch of Dwarka Express Way decongesting NH-8.
North MCD will be provided with Rs 85 crore to complete balance work of construction of Grade Seperator at Rani Jhansi Road that will reduce travel time from Karol Bagh to North Delhi.
From Rs 96.70 crore, Rs 34,53 crore to North MCD, Rs 24.56 crore to East MCD, Rs 23.64 crore to South MCD, Rs 3.32 crore to Delhi Cantonment Board, Rs 4.89 crore to DUSIB and Rs 70 lakhs to NDMC.
Naidu also informed that DDA will immediately pay Rs 18.70 crore including Rs 8.70 crore to North MCD, Rs 6.80 crore to South MCD and Rs 3.20 crore to East MCD.
Swachh Bharat Mission saw about 6 lakhs individual toilets and 29,000 community and public toilets have been built till October end, Naidu said.
He urged the Delhi Government and municipal bodies to speed up construction of toilets in national capital.
