The British Army has banned WhatsApp fearing that Russia is hacking its social media platform to acquire sensitive information. A leading media house stated that the Ministry of Defence confirmed the ban owing to security reasons. The United Kingdom (UK) government will cease the use of WhatsApp for government ministers.
Following the claims, Will Cathcart, WhatsApp Head, discarded claims against the platform being banned. Cathcart took to Twitter and wrote that the British military went official and on record that contradicted the story and also that the internal communication does not have anything to do with the invasion of Ukraine.
He also added that WhatsApp is secure and protects its calls and messages with end-to-end encryption that cannot be intercepted by any third party.
