Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay's Bengali film “Bela Seshe” (At the end of the day), based on the story of an aged divorced couple, on Tuesday (17 November) completed 200 days of successful run at the box office.
“The entire team of Bela Seshe is completely thrilled with this news. It is indeed a big feat for a film to continue its dream run for 200 days, I am truly overwhelmed with the love the audiences are showering upon the film,”director Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay said in a statement.
Directed by Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy, “Bela Seshe” stars Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Soumitra Chatterjee and veteran actress Swatilekha Sengupta. The film’s story deals with the aftermath of an aged couple’s decision to seek divorce after five decades of marriage and how their three daughters, a son and their spouses deal with it.
“Bela Seshe” released in West Bengal on 1 May to good reviews and was later released across the country including cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune and Bangalore.
“After a long time we are witnessing families flocking to cinemas and repeat viewings in Bengal and the success of this film goes to show how good content will always be a winner,” said Nandu Ahuja, senior vice-president, theatrical of Eros International.
In today’s time, when films don’t run for over a few weeks, it is indeed a huge achievement. The film has been distributed by Eros International Media.
