Apple is reportedly developing a slimmer version of its iPhone, aiming for a launch in 2025. According to a The Information report, the new model, code-named D23, is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 17 in September 2025.
This advanced version of iPhone is anticipated to carry a higher price tag than the current iPhone Pro Max and may feature Apple's latest-generation processor, potentially named the A19.
The move to create a more streamlined iPhone underscores Apple's strategy to enhance its flagship product amid increasing competition. The Cupertino-based tech giant is facing stiff rivalry from Chinese brands Honor and Huawei, as well as global leader Samsung Electronics. In the first quarter of 2024, Samsung led the smartphone market with a 20.8 per cent share, while Apple held 17.3 per cent. Amid this competitive landscape, Apple reported a 10.5 per cent decline in iPhone sales, amounting to USD 45.96 billion in the fiscal second quarter.
In addition to the new slim iPhone, Apple plans to phase out the iPhone Plus model and introduce a more affordable successor to the iPhone SE in the spring of 2025, the report revealed.
